Carrot Club - Lovelane

The Carrot Club is a social skill-building program for students ages 3 – 6. This group is facilitated by Kristin Chisum, a speech-language pathologist who specializes in social cognition. Kristin has also been a therapeutic riding instructor at Lovelane for over 20 years. Kristin utilizes our horses to model key social cues to set the scene for positive peer interactions that support social language development.

This program will help participants:

  • Increase social awareness
  • Develop strategies for successful social interactions, including:
    • Cooperative play
    • Self-regulation / “staying expected”
    • Following a group plan
    • “Sharing an Imagination”
  • Build self-esteem and confidence
  • Improve conversational skill, including turn-taking, topic maintenance, eye-contact, and body language

SPRING 2022 PROGRAM DATES:

  • Tuesdays, April 5 – May 31 (no class April 19), 1:45 – 2:30 pm – 2 spaces available!
  • COST: $440 for 8 weeks

SUMMER 2022 PROGRAM DATES: 

Classes will run for 5 weeks, beginning the week of July 11th. Please note that the exact day and time for these programs will depend on participant availability.

  • Tuesdays, July 12 – August 16 (no class August 2), 12:15 – 1:00 pm
  • Tuesdays, July 12 – August 16 (no class August 2), 4:00 – 4:45 pm
  • Wednesdays, July 13 – August 17 (no class August 3), 2:15 – 1:00 pm
  • Wednesdays, July 13 – August 17 (no class August 3), 4:00 – 4:45 pm
  • Thursdays, July 14 – August 18 (no class August 4), 12:15 – 1:00 pm
  • Thursdays, July 14 – August 18 (no class August 4), 4:00 – 4:45 pm
  • COST: $275 for 5 weeks
